If you want to experience a bit of David Byrne in 1986, get your hands on a copy of "True Stories: Talking Heads" (the movie). If you have Netflix, it's in the Watch Instantly selection. If you are uneasy about humanity today, just imagine feeling that way since '86. It is written in a musical style that I really like, a sad love story, and great commentary from David Byrne himself. Needless to say, this movie is already one of my favorites of all time. Watch it. Let me know what you think.

This movie has been one of my favorites since I saw it in the theater in 1986. When it was over I couldn't believe what I had seen.
As the house lights came up only one other person in the room seemed to have seen the same movie as myself. We looked at one another eyes locked for a moment. My date enjoyed it but it didn't make the impact on him as it did on me.
It would diminish the film to list all the reasons why I love it so. However, just a few won't hurt:
I worked at the mall where the fashion show was filmed. (I left just a few weeks before the filming) I was a hairdresser at Lord and Taylors. If you look you can see the word "Lord" in the fashion show scene.
I lived in Collin Co. in a neighborhood that "leap froged" over the fields.
I drove on and under the over-passes.
There is more on a personal level that is not for public sharing. I love this movie. It's nice to know more than the one other person in the theater does too.
Take care Nick,
Shelly
